Depending on the level of giving, donors are invited to join the Music Club in which their membership entitles them to participate in a world of discussions, lectures, music-making, and of course good food and drink. Led by the conductor Eric Paetkau, donors will get to know the works presented on each concert on an intimate basis during an evening a few days prior to the first performance. This evening will include discussion and debate of the works including its musical content, social surroundings, and the lives of the composers. The donors will actively participate in the music-making aspect through innovative new music and other more well-known works, encouraging a deeper appreciation and passion for classical music through the process. It is as if the donors sign up for a course in something about which they have always been passionate and in return get the information they want and get to be a participant in the life of a world-class orchestra. In part they can claim, “This is my orchestra and I know exactly what’s going on in the music that is being played.”
